Founded in 1969, Fukunaga & Associates, Inc. is an award-winning, Hawai‘i-based, civil and environmental engineering firm. We provide engineering consulting services in planning and design of private and public works development projects.
We offer a full range of engineering services, including planning and feasibility studies, preparation of construction plans and specifications, construction consultation and project management. Our areas of expertise include engineering and design of potable and non-potable water systems, wastewater systems, site investigations, drainage systems, athletic facilities, and basic civil site development work. We are also experienced in the latest techniques of “trenchless technology,” having done several pipeline projects involving horizontal directional drilling, cured in place pipe and sliplining.
Our clients have included the State of Hawai‘i, City & County of Honolulu, County of Maui, County of Kaua‘i, County of Hawai‘i, the U.S. Navy and Army, and other public and private organizations. We have also worked on projects overseas, primarily with the U.S. Navy throughout the Pacific Rim, such as Japan, Okinawa, Guam, Kwajalein and Wake Island, and also on Diego Garcia in the Indian Ocean.
Over the past 50 years, we have maintained a reputation for providing high-quality, engineering design solutions that are pioneering in use of materials and methods, and extend existing techniques beyond conventional applications. We have gained recognition for numerous high profile projects, including the development of the City & County of Honolulu’s $1.8 billion Long Range Sewer Rehabilitation Plan and assisted the City in their negotiations with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the State Department of Health for Notice of Violations and Consent Decrees on their wastewater collection system. We were also selected by the U.S. Navy to upgrade their infrastructure to support their redevelopment of Ford Island in Pearl Harbor.
Most recently, we were selected by the U.S. Navy, under the Naval Facilities Engineering Command Hawaii, with an indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract.
